SNGPL starts crackdown against illegal consumers

PESHAWAR: Sui Norther Gas Pipeline Task Force has initiated crackdown against illegal gas connection in Southern districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and apprehended number of accused.

According to SNGPL Spokesman said here Wednesday that on the directives of General Manager SNGPL KP Arbab Saqib, the task force in collaboration with district administration of Karak and Kohat districts launched grand operation against illegal consumers both domestic and commercial.

The task force disconnected connection of 21 small factories, 14 commercial connections of power generation units and number of hotels and bakeries. The authorities have lodged FIRs against illegal consumers and arrested four persons red handed.

He said that an application has been moved to the provincial government for permanent closures of the factories involved in illegal use of gas, adding that the company has floated a comprehensive propose to the provincial government to lay new pipeline in district Karak while rehabilitation of the old pipeline.

He said the provincial government had been informed about the estimated cost of the project and work on it would be initiated as soon as the funds would be released.

The Spokesman said 2013 illegal connections, 43 tempered meters were disconnected in suburb areas of Peshawar district and three accused were arrested.
