KABUL (Amu tv): Rashid Kashifi, a journalist based in Kabul, has been detained by Taliban, sources said on Wednesday.
Kashifi was reportedly arrested on Wednesday near his residence in the capital. He has worked with several local media outlets, including The Kabul Times and Rasa TV.
This is the second time Kashifi has been taken into custody by the Taliban. He was previously arrested in December 2021 and, according to his own account, was beaten during that detention.
Taliban officials have not commented on the latest arrest. Press freedom groups have repeatedly expressed concern over the increasing harassment, detention, and intimidation of journalists in Afghanistan since the Taliban’s return to power in 2021.
