SP appreciates SAHIL fight against child abuse

ZHOB: District Police Officer (PSP) Sardar Mavarhan Leghari has said that the children are the future of country and an innocent segment of society. Children sexual abuse is a menace; their protection is our collective responsibility.

He expressed these views while talking to SAHIL volunteer Rafiullah Mandokhail, during a meeting on Child Sexual Abuse (CSA) at DPO office here. The PSP officer said that poverty was the key factor that forced the parents to send their children out of homes, where they are harassed.

“Child sexual abuse is the most drastic problem that needs to be eradicated completely from the society. It can only be possible, when we join hands together”. He said.

He further said that media can play an important role in bringing the human rights and child protection issues into the limelight. To protect the children from sexual abuse and exploitation, he said strict laws, effective policies and child protection bills should be passed besides support system should be established for intervention and rehabilitation. The PSP officer was asked that the police department should make the process of registering FIR for the victims of child sexual abuse easier.

The district police chief was briefed regarding the menace of child abuse, its impact on the society and SAHIL efforts for the purpose. He appreciated the role of SAHIL in highlighting a social evil. SAHIL – a non-governmental organization was established in 1996. Its mission is to develop a protective and violence free environment for children. SAHIL exclusively works for the eradication of sexual abuses against children in the society and provides a safe and secure atmosphere to children. It ensures that not even a single child is subjected to any abuse. The organization also carrying out training programs for school teachers and under age children besides providing legal cover to victims.
