Speaker Asad Qaiser issues ‘Production orders’ for Asif Zardari, Khawaja Saad

F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly, Asad Qiaser has issued the production orders for former president Asif Zardari and PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique.

Both the leaders were arrested by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in separate corruption cases and they would now attend the session of assembly on Thursday (today).

Earlier on Wednesday, members of the Opposition and government coalition parties signed a petition for the issuance of former president Asif Ali Zardari’s production order.

At the request of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), members of the government coalition parties signed the petition application.

The petition application was signed by Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s Syed Aminul Haque, Balochistan National Party Chairman Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Balochistan Awami Party’s Khalid Magsi and Jamhoori Wattan Party’s Shahzain Bugti.

PPP leaders had protested outside speaker’s office for issuance of production orders of Asif Zardari and said it was constitutional right of member of parliament to attend the session of assembly to represent his voters.

On June 10, the National Accountability Bureau arrested Zardari in the fake bank accounts case from Islamabad after a bench of the Islamabad High Court had rejected a plea filed by Zardari and his sister, Faryal Talpur, seeking an extension in their interim bail in the fake bank accounts case.

The case pertains to transactions worth hundreds of millions of rupees to the two leaders  private companies, allegedly, through fake bank accounts.
