Spring Polo Cup to get underway

LAHORE: The 12-goal Spring Polo Cup will stroll into action from Tuesday here at the Lahore Polo Club (LPC) ground. Lahore Polo Club President Irfan Ali Hyder said on Monday that top 8 teams have been participating in this 12-goal tournament, which includes top national and international polo players.

The teams have been divided into two pools as Pool A consists of Rizvi’s/Master Paints, Newage/Guard Group, Barry’s and Master Paints Black while Pool B has Army Whites, Army Red, Diamond Paints Black and Diamond Paints Blues. He said that the inaugural match of the tournament will be contested between Rizvi’s/Master Paints and Newage/Guard Group at 2:15 pm while Barry’s will vie against Master Paints Black at 3:15 pm.

The leagues matches will be contested till Friday and top sides in both the pools will qualify for the main final, which will be played on Sunday. Irfan said that the high-goal season has been reaching its peak and all the teams and players have been performing exceptionally, making the tournament more electrifying and enthralling. “I hope like the previous event, this tournament too will provide ample opportunities to enjoy the high-quality polo and the main final too may prove to be a majestic one”, the LPC president added.
