Stabilization operation in post terrorism era

Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa has expressed satisfaction over progress of the stabilization operations across Pakistan following the successes of Operation Radd-ul-Fasaad. COAS was addressing the two-day long 78th Formation Commanders’ Conference held at GHQ Rawalpindi. General Bajwa laid the special emphasis on maintaining high standards of operational preparedness along the LoC, Working Boundary and Pak-Afghan International Border in the wake of evolving geo-strategic environment.

General Bajwa appreciated formations for their all-out support to national response for tackling COVID-19 pandemic, locust, and eradication of polio. As reported, forum paid rich tribute to the resilient nation particularly the people of tribal areas for their supreme sacrifices in the war against terrorism and reviewed progress on transition and uplift of the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and socioeconomic development in Balochistan as a dividend of hard-earned peace and stability.

It is not an old story that the menace of terrorism had took the entire country into its clutches and the peace seemed to be a dream during those days. The international media was reporting the presence of terrorist gangs in the suburb of Islamabad. Pakistan Army started its historic operation “Reh-e-Najat” in Swat and Buner districts and successfully eliminated the terrorist’s sanctuaries in those areas. Later, similar military operations were launched in other tribal areas including Kurrum, Mohmand, Bajor, Khyber, South and North Waziristan, and other tribal areas. The brave young officers and soldiers of Pakistan Army had laid their precious lives in defeating the menace of terrorism in the tribal areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. After Successful operation Zarb-e-Azb, Pakistan Army launched operation Radd-ul-Fasaad to consolidate its gains along with development work in the areas cleared from the terrorists. Pakistan Army trained the civil Police, FC, and Khasadar Force of Ex. FATA districts and helped the civilian administration in restoring the writ of the government in the area. According to reports, Pakistan Army has undertaken 567 social welfare and infrastructure projects in Waziristan only.

Presently, Pakistan Army has initiated the Stabilization operation in the newly merged districts of Ex. FATA and other parts of the Country. The civilian government and political leadership must cooperate with Pakistan Army to help bring peace, stability and routine life in those terror hit areas and other affected parts of the country.
