Step-mother arrested for murder of minor in Dir

LOWER DIR: The Lower Dir police claimed to have arrested a step-mother and her brother-in-law for brutally killing a 5-year old child Ayan Khan who was found dead on Feb, 22 at a nearby hill. According to a press release issued by the district police officer Tariq Iqbal a special investigation team finally traced the blind murder case in the jurisdiction of Lal Qila police station.

The DPO said that step-mother of the child and her brother-in-law Bakht Zada, a resident of Zaimdara were arrested by police. He said the accused confessed to the crime and said the child was killed with the help of a sickle. Police also recovered the sickle used during the crime.

The Maidan residents on the call of Maidan Action Committee had staged a massive protest rally at Kumbar against the incident here the other day and demanded the police high ups to arrest the killers soon.

The local residents, meanwhile, appreciated the Lower Dir police for tracing the case and arresting the perpetrators.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist identified as Iftikhar Wali, 24 was killed while two others were injured when a Suzuki pickup and a motorcycle collided head on at Shamshi Khan Talash due to over speeding, police and rescuers said. They said the Rescue 1122 medical team shifted the injured Iftikhar Wali, Taj Wali and Zahir Khan to the district headquarters hospital Timergara where Iftikhar succumbed to injuries. The deceased was serving in the army as a soldier.

The local police arrested the Suzuki driver and started further investigations. Also in the day the Rescue 1122 team and local residents rescued a minor who was trapped under a collapsed mud heap at Odigram area. The rescuers pulled the child out of the debris and provided first aid to him.
