Strong Pak-China relations vital for development: Siraj

LAHORE: Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirjaul Haq, on Monday, called on the Chinese ambassador Yao Jing, in Islamabad at the Chinese embassy and discussed with him matters of bilateral interest.

JI deputy chief Mian Muhammad slam and Director, JI Foreign affairs, Abdul Aziz Ghaffar, were also present at the meeting. 

The JI chief impressed upon the Chinese envoy that strong Pak-China relations were vital for the development and the stability of the region.  He said that the common policies of the two countries on international and national issues were the corner stone of Pakistan’s foreign policy.

The JI chief had a detailed discussion with the Chinese envoy on the situation in Afghanistan  and Kashmir and about the Muslims  in China. He said that strong and unwavering stance of China on the Kashmir issue was a source of strength and satisfaction for the Kashmiri people and the people of Pakistan and Kashmir were highly indebted to the people and the government of China in this regard. He said the two people hoped that China would adopt every possible political and diplomatic step to stop the brutalities of the Indian occupation forces in held Kashmir.

Senator Sirajul Haq further said that after US announcement to withdraw its forces from Afghanistan, the cooperation between the leadership of China, Pakistan and Afghanistan had become more essential. He said that all the stake holders should be on one page and all the countries would have to stand united and adopt joint measures.

The JI chief said peace in Afghanistan was also important for the CPEC. However, he said that peace would not be possible in Afghanistan until all Afghan groups stood united. The Chinese envoy and the JI chief agreed that the end of foreign interference in Afghanistan would alone help build an atmosphere of trust in the region. Senator Sirajul Haq said that India’s increasing interference in Afghanistan with US patronage was causing serious concern not only in Afghanistan but also for China and Pakistan. The Chinese envoy discussed in detail about the Muslims in China and the situation in Sink yang. The envoy said that the China had been following the policy of providing equal rights and facilities to all its citizens irrespective of their regional, religious and racial differences.

The JI chief said there was great concern in the Muslim world about the Chinese Muslims because of the media reports. He expressed the hope that the practical and positive steps adopted by China would help remove the misgivings in this respect.
