Strong Pak-Russia relations must for regional peace, stability: PM Abbasi

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that Pakistan wants to forge a long term partnership with Russia in all areas including trade and energy.

PM Abbasi said this in a meeting with the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin, along with his delegation.

Speaker National Assembly, Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, Chairperson BISP Ms. Marvi Memon, Member National Assembly Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtyar and senior officers were also present in the meeting.

PM Abbasi said that the Pak-Russia strong relations are very important and huge potential exists between the two countries to further enhance their trade volume and strengthen bilateral economic ties.

PM added that Pak-Russia strong relation is also very important for the sustainable peace in the region and he stressed on to further enhance the relation between the two countries.

Pakistan has strong interest in the peace and stability in Afghanistan and always held the view that there was no military solution to the conflict in the neighboring country, PM added.

During the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin thanked the prime minister for the warm welcome and also appreciated the role of Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq towards strengthening of Pak-Russia relations utilizing the parliamentary forum.

Later the Prime Minister also hosted a dinner in honor of visiting speakers from Afghanistan, China, Iran, Russian Federation and Turkey.
