Sufficient wheat available in province: Minister

PESHAWAR :The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Food Qalandar Lodhi has said that sufficient wheat in the province is available in stock. This he said while presiding over the Provincial Food Committee meeting in his office Civil Secretariat Peshawar on Wednesday.

After detail briefing by the Director Food, the Minister expressed his pleasure that sufficient wheat is existed in province and smooth flow of wheat is being released to all flour mills in the province regularly as per their quota.

The Minister further said that purchase of wheat willl be made from Account-II instead of commercial Bank.

The Minister informed that new session for purchase will be started from May 1, 2018, for which all formalities had full filled. 3 lac tons wheat procurement will be made for 2018 as decided in the meeting with the Federal Government. On this occasion, the secretary food Akbar Khan directed food department to have a meeting with finance and other line departments to ensure in time purchase of wheat for the next year. Beside officials of food department, members of finance, law and other line department were present in the meeting.

The Minister at the end lauded the performance and efforts of food and other departments.
