Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the cabinet has approved allocation of additional 200,000 tons of wheat flour for sale on subsidized rate at the outlets of Utility Stores Corporation. It is part of Prime Minister’s Rs.50 billion relief package for providing inexpensive kitchen items to the people. First tranche of fifty thousand tonnes of wheat supply shall be released immediately.
People are getting only two food commodities such as wheat flour and sugar on subsidized rates. But there are complaints against the quality of these items. High prices of other kitchen items are being charged, including milk pack, dry skimmed milk, rice, pulses, beans, tomato catch up, jam and marmalade. Smooth supply of all necessary food commodities of better quality needs to be ensured at the sale points of Utility Stores Corporation at affordable prices.
