Supply of electricity restored

Monitoring Desk

KUNDUZ: The supply of imported electricity to Kabul was restored due to continuous efforts of technical staff and cooperation of security forces, police said Saturday. Few days ago, Taliban gunmen blew up a pole of imported electricity in the Doshi district of Laghman province, plunging parts of the Afghan capital into darkness.

The disconnection of power supply had created problems for traders, factories, offices and general public. The severed line of Tajikistan electricity was repaired yesterday’s afternoon and electricity was restored to Kabul, said Zabihullah Shuja, spokesman of Baghlan police.

Similarly, work on the electricity pylon destroyed by gunmen in the Khanabad district of Kunduz province is also underway. Few weeks ago, Taliban threatened to cut off power supply to Kabul if the government failed to provide electricity to the Taliban controlled remote areas in Baghland Kunduz.
