F.P. Report

ISLAMABAD: Police have held a suspect on Monday in Faizabad and seized 492 detonators, 196 explosive sticks and 300metre safety fuses in his possession at a time when protesters belonging to rightist movements have camped in the area.

Sources privy to the capital police have reported that the suspect is identified by name Saifur Rehman and has been moved to Abpara Police Station for interrogation.

The arrest came at a time when the government is attempting to negotiate the Faizabad deadlock led by Tehreek Labbaik Ya Rasool Allah and Sunni Tehreek who have taken offence of controversial amendment in Elections Act 2017 that was approved earlier this year only to be reversed.

Protesting bodies that had directed their respective workers to camp in outskirts of Islamabad late October claiming to continue sit-in protest until law minister Zahid Hamid tenders his resignation have reportedly agreed to form a committee in the issue.

Last week, government and the protesters convened the fourth round of talks however, the sit-in protest did not end. Particpants of the meeting included interior minister Ahsan Iqbal and Islamabad mayor while representing the other side were three senior clerics.

Another round of talks is underway today in Punjab House of the federal capital.

On the other hand, Islamabad High Court issued contempt of court notices to Ahsan Iqbal among other government officials and ordered to resolve the deadlock within 48 hours.
