Suspected militant killed in encounter

TIMERGARA: The Counter Terrorism Department claimed to have killed a suspected militant and target killer identified as Altaf alias ‘Rockety’ son of Muhammad Rehman, a resident of Shawa Adenzai during a search and strike operation at Shawa in the jurisdiction of Ouch police station.

The Lower Dir police also took part in the operation. According to police the militant was wanted to police in a number of target killings and terrorist acts. The operation was conducted on a tip off that ‘Rockety’ had entered the area and wanted to cross into Swat for militancy.

According to CTD officials the militant was killed during an encounter at the Shah Alam Baba Mountain. The government had announced Rs 5 million as head money for the deceased who had been underground for a long time. An official of the Ouch police station told on condition of anonymity that the suspected militant wanted to police in several terrorist acts and target killings. The body was shifted to the tehsil head quarter hospital Chakdara late at evening for further proceeding, the hospital sources said, adding the body would be handed over to the relatives after autopsy.
