Swat receives first snowfall of winter season

PESHAWAR: The Swat Valley on Saturday received its first snowfall of the winter season after the disastrous flood wreaked havoc in the district a few months ago.

Reportedly, the plain areas of the Swat Valley experienced heavy rain while the upper areas reported rain with light snowfall. This precipitation brought about a change in the weather, and the cold’s intensity increased.

The mountains of Kalam, Mahudand, Atrur, Bahrain, Miandam, Malam Jabba, and the upper areas of Tehsil Matta of Swat have blanketed with snow.

In the meantime, the flood victims are facing hundreds of difficulties in the flood-affected upper areas of Swat due to drop in temperature and increasing cold.

People have started using warm clothes to avoid cold.

According to the Meteorological Department, rain and snow are likely to continue till the evening.
