Taliban blow up one of the oldest shrines of Ghazni

KABUL: The Taliban militants have blown up one of the oldest shrines in Ghazni city, the provincial capital of south-eastern Ghazni province.

The local officials have confirmed that the shrine of Shams-ul-Arifin, one of the oldest shrines of Ghazni city was blown up by Taliban militants late on Wednesday night.

The shrine located in western parts of Ghazni city was one of the most famous shrines of the city and was widely respected by people.

The provincial government media office confirmed in a statement that the tomb of a popular Sufi Abdul Wahid also famous as Shams-ul-Arifin who had died in 601 Hijri or Lunar year, was located inside the shrine.

The statement further added that the Taliban militants blew up two shrines in Moqor district and another and the shrine of Sakhi Sahib was also blown up in Ghazni city by militants of the group.

The Taliban militants have not commented in this regard so far.(Khaama Press)
