Taliban claims responsibility for killing US soldier

KABUL (AA): The Taliban took responsibility on Wednesday for killing a U.S. soldier in Uruzgan province of Afghanistan.

This comes as the two sides are engaged in landmark face-to-face talks in Doha, Qatar to end the longest American war of history in the war-ravaged country.

Qari Yosuf Ahmadi, the Taliban spokesman, noted in a statement three U.S. soldiers were killed on Tuesday in a powerful IED attack in Uruzgan’s capital, Tarinkot.

However, the U.S. military said on Tuesday only one service member was killed by ‘enemy fire’ in Afghanistan.

This is the second American soldier to be killed in Afghanistan in 2019.
