Monitoring Desk

KABUL: The Afghan forces killed 16 Taliban militants including one of their commanders in Sar-e-Pul province.

The 209th Shaheen Corps in a statement said a clash broke out between security forces and Taliban militants in the provincial capital of Sar-e-Pul.

The statement further added that the security forces killed 16 Taliban including their key commander Badar during the clash.

The security forces also wounded 17 Taliban militants including their commander Mullah Mashood.

The anti-government armed militants including Taliban have not commented regarding the operation so far.

This comes as the security situation in some districts of Sar-e-Pul province has deteriorated during the recent years.

Taliban militants are active in districts of the province and often conduct terrorist related activities.

Meanwhile, the Afghan forces are busy conducting counter-terrorism operations against the anti-government armed groups in this province. (Khaama Press)
