KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate has reminded the governments of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan to return Afghanistan’s military aircraft. Acting Defence Minister Mohammad Yaqoob Mujahid sought the Afghan airplanes’ return at a ceremony in Kabul.
A private TV channel quoted the minister as warning the countries of consequences if they not return the aircraft. According to TOLOnews, Yaqoob Mujahid said: “Our aircraft that are in Tajikistan or Uzbekistan should be returned.”
The minister added: “We will not allow these aircraft to remain abroad or to be used by those countries.” Following the fall of the Ashraf Ghani administration, more than 40 helicopters were hijacked by Afghan pilots to Uzbekistan and Tajikistan. He urged rivals of the Islamic Emirate to join the new government. “Come and support this government and stop opposing it.”
