Taliban found and raided ISIS cell in Kabul, killing five ‘Kharijites’

KABUL (Khaama Press): The Taliban government spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claims that the group has destroyed an ISIS hideout in the Afghan capital, Kabul following the reports of nighttime explosions in Kabul.
The ISIS cell was discovered and destroyed in the Panjsad Family neighborhood of Kabul; Zabihullah Mujahid tweeted.
Mujahid claimed that five “Kharijites,” the term he used to refer to ISIS fighters, died as a result of the Taliban forces’ operation to attack and destroy the ISIS hideout.
The Taliban forces’ raid in Kabul, allegedly on the ISIS hideout, comes at a time when several explosions were heard. These militants belonged to an “important network” that intended to engage in destructive operations, according to Mujahid’s statement.
Six members of the ISIS group in Nangarhar, in eastern Afghanistan, were also killed during a special operation, according to a statement by the Taliban government’s Ministry of Defense. The Taliban stated that each of these operations resulted in the acquisition of some weapons and ammunition the militants intended to use for their operations.
This comes as the security of Afghanistan is said to be “extremely volatile”, and countries advise their nationals to refrain from traveling to Afghanistan as they are concerned about the resurgence of terrorism in Afghanistan.
