KABUL (Pajhwok): National Security Advisor Hamdullah Mohib on Friday said the Taliban intended to cease power through force and the group was never committed to peace. Mohib is part of President Ashraf Ghani’s delegation during their official two trip to the US.
Talking to VoA, he said: “The Taliban proved that until today they are not committed to peace. One of their commitments was sincere talks which they did not do. We have not seen the Taliban commitment to peace and their intention is to reach peace by force.” Referring to the fall of some districts, he said for the first time the Taliban have launched an all-out war, adding in the past the group was engaged in hidden conflict.
He added the people of Afghanistan and it government will not allow the fall of contemporary system. “They made some progress in recent days, but it is not something unstoppable.” Referring to the president ongoing US trip, he said a new chapter of relationship has been opened between the two nations after the pull of foreign forces and this trip could have direct impact on the existing situation in Afghanistan.
