Taliban kill two Daesh commanders

MEHTERLAM: The Taliban killed two commanders of the Islamic State or Daesh in Alingar district of Laghman province, officials said on Saturday.

Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told media that Taliban fighters eliminated a Daesh commander identified as Abu Qamar Al-Khurasani in Kandagar area in Alingar district yesterday.

“Abu Qamar Al-Khurasani had been sent to Alingar for the execution of some plans. He was killed in the attack of mujahideen,” he said. In a separate incident, Mujahid said their fighters killed a Daesh group commander identified as Abu Zia in Mehrab village in Kandagar area last night.

Some sources told local media that the real name of Abu Qamar Al-Khurasani was Abdul Wahid. He was the resident of Dara Noor district of Nangarhar. He was in Laghman province to execute the plans of Daesh.

When contacted, Laghman governor’s spokesman Sarhadi Zwak said he was unaware of any such incident. The Islamic State or Daesh has not said anything in this regard so far.

However, they have increased their activities in Laghman province over the past some time. On December 06, the Islamic State announced that seven Taliban fighters were killed in a clash Daesh gunmen in Alingar district. However, officials in Laghman and Taliban have not confirmed these reports so far.

The main bases of Daesh are located in Nangahrar province near the Durand Line. They are active in various parts of the country, including Kunar, Nuristan, Jawzjan, Faryab, Sare Pul, Ghor and Kabul provinces. They are trying to recruit fighters in other parts of the country.
