Taliban rejects NDS claims of killing a top Al-Qaeda leader in Afghanistan

KABUL: Taliban rejected the government claims of killing of a top Al-Qaeda leader in a joint Afghan and US forces operation in Afghanistan.

Zabiullah Mujahid, Spokesman of Taliban said while talking to local media that killing of the militants in Zabul, Ghazni, and Paktia are propaganda of government with the aim to hide its defeats in the war with Taliban.

Mujahid claimed that no foreigner and local members of Taliban fighter were killed during the operations in these provinces and security forces were only spreading wrong news, trying to cover its face in these types of wrong news.

The Taliban statements comes as the Afghan security authorities said Tuesday that a top leader of the Al-Qaeda terrorist network has been killed along with at least 80 other militants during the operations of the Afghan and US forces.

The Afghan Intelligence, National Directorate of Security (NDS), the militants were killed during the operations conducted in Ghazni, Zabul, and Paktia provinces.

NDS claimed that the senior Al-Qaeda leader killed during the operation has been identified as Omar Khetab who was also famous was Omar Mansoor.
