KABUL (Amu tv): The Taliban-controlled embassy in Azerbaijan announced on Monday that it has resumed issuing passports to Afghan citizens, marking the end of a four-year suspension of such consular services.
In a post on X, the embassy said it is now accepting applications for passport issuance.
The move follows similar announcements by Taliban-run diplomatic missions in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and India, where consular services — including passport distribution — had also been restarted after years of interruption.
The suspension of passport services in these countries began prior to the Taliban’s return to power in August 2021 and had not resumed until recently, leaving many Afghan nationals abroad unable to renew or obtain travel documents.
