Taliban shadow district chief killed

KUNDUZ: A Taliban shadow district governor was killed was killed by his own bomb in northeastern Kunduz province, Afghan Army said Thursday.

Security forces were conducted operation in the Ibrahim Khan area of Khanabad district when Taliban shadow governor the same district, Qari Dost Muhammad, stepped on their own planted landmine while trying to escape, said Abdul Khalil, a press officer of Afghan National Army 20th Division in Kunduz. He said Qari Dost Muhammad was killed and his guard wounded in the blast.

Local residents confirmed that a Taliban member was killed in a landmine explosion but were short of further details.
