KABUL: Reacting to the offer of Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani to take part in the next polls as a political party, the Taliban said the election of leadership in the country was not in the hands of Afghan people.

According to a statement sent by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid to Afghan Islamic Press (AIP), the Taliban would give first priority to the ouster of foreigners from the country.

Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Ghani launched the voter registration process for the upcoming Wolesi Jirga and district council elections. On the occasion, President Ghani asked Taliban to take part in the next polls as a political party.

According to the statement sent by Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, “The Islamic Emirate believes that our dearest country Afghanistan is under the occupation of aliens. Tens of thousands of foreign forces are stationed in the country. Key decisions in the military and political sector are taken by the occupiers. Keeping it in view, the top priority before the Islamic Emirate is to free the country and nation from the occupation and to take back the stolen right of political election from the occupiers.”

The Taliban said as the National Unity Government was formed on the decision of U.S Foreign Secretary John Kerry last time, once again such a person would be sent to power who has been selected by the White House and Pentagon in advance.

After the fall of Taliban regime, they (Taliban) have opposed all kinds of elements in the country. They conducted hundreds of attacks throughout the country on the day of election every time.
