Taliban sustained casualties

KANDAHAR (Agencies): In the latest fighting in Arghandab district, Kandahar the Taliban have suffered heavy casualties.

According to reports, several gatherings and the Taliban headquarters in Arghandab have been targeted from the ground and air forces attack.

A source in the National Security Forces said that 36 insurgents had been killed and dozens more wounded in the latest fighting. He confirmed that Mullah Nader Akhund, a Taliban intelligence official for Kandahar, was among those killed.

The Taliban have not yet commented in this regard.

It is said that, parts of Arghandab and Spin Boldak districts are still under Taliban control.

Senior military officials in the south say efforts are under way to retake lost parts of Arghandab and Spin Boldak from Taliban.
