TDAP and MoP welcomes British Backpacker Society delegation

KARACHI: Trade Development Authority of Pakistan and Ministry of Commerce welcomed the delegation of British Backpacker Society (BBS) from 1st – 6th May, 2019 to Pakistan.

Trade Development Authority of Pakistan has recently established a Services Directorate whose mandate is to support and enhance services exports and suggest the measures and strategies for growth of services sectors including tourism sector. The delegation consisted of 7 members. Through tourism policy consulting, public lectures and travel media, BBS with their vast travelling experience aims to bring the benefits of responsible travel to countries with untapped tourism potential.

The delegation visited Islamabad from 1st – 3rd May, 2019 and met with government officials for tourism policy recommendations at Ministry of Commerce, Islamabad. They also delivered lecture at a Seminar on promoting International Tourism in Pakistan held at National Insurance Corporation Limited, Islamabad. The delegation also did a tour of Islamabad and local sites of Taxila organized by Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation in collaboration with TDAP.

During their visit to Karachi from 4th 6th May, 2019 a Seminar was organized by TDAP, Services Directorate on Realizing International Tourism Potential in Pakistan held at Institute of Business management Karachi. The Seminar was highly appreciated by all the participants. The Seminar comprised of interactive sessions and presentation from Sindh Tourism Development Corporation and the British Backpackers where the delegates shared the issues they face and recommendations for improving travel and tourism in Pakistan. The said delegation also visited various local heritage sites including resting place of Quaid-e-Azam, Pakistan, Mohatta Palace, Chowkandi graveyard and few museums during their city tour of Karachi organized by Sindh Tourism Development Corporation in collaboration with TDAP. The delegation was impressed by the tourist attractions Pakistan has to offer and the hospitality they received, they liked biryani and lassi and they travelled on local rickshaw as well.

Further they acknowledged the efforts of Ministry of Commerce, TDAP and all other government departments for promoting tourism in Pakistan and promised to travel to Pakistan again and promote tourism potential of Pakistan in United Kingdom and other countries. TDAP is planning to send services related delegations and participate in exhibitions including tourism sector with the help of regional tourism organizations of Pakistan.
