Tele-medicine project to provide free medical treatment: Saira

HAFIZABAD: Tele-Medicine project is being launched in different district of the Punjab according to which the patients of remote areas would be provided free medical treatment in the nearest government hospitals through Skype and modern technology, Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar said here.

Addressing a gathering on the conclusion of two-day free eye camp organised in the DHQ Hospital under the auspices of an NGO, Mehvish and Jahangir Foundation Karachi, she said that the government has provided unprecedented funds for providing medical care to the patients during the past few years as it was bounden duty of the government to provide free medical aid to the patients but the importance of public-private partnership cannot be denied. She further said that hepatitis patients are also being provided free medicines at their door steps.

Federal Minister for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Saira Afzal Tarar thanked Chief Organiser Muhammad Jameel Memon of the NGO for sponsoring the free eye camp and added that serving ailing humanity is best worship which is liked by the Almighty Allah. She urged well-to-do people to come forward in this noble cause.

The chief organizer told him that free check-up of 650 eye patients were made while 230 eye operations were conducted and the patients were provided free medicines, lenses and food. She later distributed shields to the chief organizer, physicians and surgeons.
