Ten dead, 15 injured as van hit pedestrians in Toronto

TORONTO: Police confirmed that at least ten people have been killed and 15 others were injured after a van hit a number of pedestrians in Toronto.

Toronto police told media that the incident was occurred on Yonge Street and Finch Avenue East around 1 pm local time, in a result ten people are dead and 15 injured after a van mounted a sidewalk in north Toronto, crashing into pedestrians. Police arrested driver of a van.

Meanwhile, eye-witnesses to the incident describe a scene of devastation with an unknown number of pedestrian injuries.

Toronto Mayor John Tory said he planned to join those on the scene as he extended city support to the investigation of an incident he described as “very tragic.”

He said in a statement that “My thoughts are with those affected by this incident and the frontline responders who are working to help those injured.”
