ISLAMABAD: Chairman, National Counter Terrorism Authority (NCTA), Ihsan Ghani informed the National Assembly on Tuesday that sectarian violence and other crime activities were decreased comparing to the last years as the terrorists networks were destroyed and their also destroyed their communication network.
Ghani present a report in the standing committee of the National Assembly on the National Action Plan (NAP). He said that at least 37 sectarian violence cases and 426 terrorism acts were took place this year
The reports added that several steps were taken to control the terrorism and terrorism networks in the country and so far 98.3 million SIMs were blocked and a one can get a new SIM through biometric verification only, arrested several people having multiple passports. Lawmakers were informed that militancy in rural Punjab was decreased.
Report added that as many as 5023 accounts were frozen in the whole country and also frozen an amount of Rs300 million. 66 organizations are banned in the country but the United Nations has banned 164 organizations in the country, report added.
Regarding the Karachi operation, Ghani said that terrorism and crimes has been reduced to 98% in the provincial capital and target, robberies and other crimes gone down.
