The image of Pakistan

The manner in which Shah Mahmood Qureshi, a former two times foreign minister of Pakistan was arrested did dent the image of Pakistan globally. If somebody wants to deny this fact, it’s their own choice.

The manner in which Pakistan is being run today is nothing less than a jungle rule where the mighty has the power to do anything they wish to do. And there is no body to stop or question this injustice which is being committed everyday in one shape or another. The images which are being circulated around the world about Pakistan is nothing to feel proud of.

On one hand Pakistani Caretaker Prime Minister Mr Kakar is charging the Board of Governors of Special Technology Zones Authority to boost foreign investment in Pakistan but on the other hand a former foreign minister in being dragged and shoved inside a police vehicle. How are the foreigners going to invest in such atmosphere.?

The Baloch protestors are sitting in Islamabad since last several days but no senior government official had the audacity to go and sit with those protestors and listen to their genuine demands. But instead the image of Pakistan is being portrayed globally by the rivals of Pakistan that separatists movements in Pakistan are taking place. Are we ok with such image of our country.?

To accommodate a certain political party or few political parties the whole process of elections has turned into a joke. Who is going to believe the results of such elections? What will be the image of Pakistan democracy to the world? By suppressing one political party and promoting another political party what justice is being done to the voters of Pakistan.? Such attitudes decreases the nationalism and patriotism of the voters.

The image of the Justice system in Pakistan is also globally portrayed as a managed system which is rotten and decayed. The powerful and the blessed ones are getting justice swiftly and according to their desires but those who are oppressed or those with no wealth and contacts are seen banging doors of justice in one corner of the country or another corner of the country. Are we ok with such Justice system.?

Who is going to improve this image of Pakistan and how can this image be improved?. Let’s start with the basics of any normal society and country by allowing each sector to operate independently and without interference. Let us focus on holding free and fair elections. Let us not make politics so brutal and nasty that no sane person thinks about becoming a politician or public servant. Let us stand as a nation together to fight the many challenges we are facing. Let us be a little forgiving as well.
