Thousands come to streets for peace in Swat

MINGORA: Thousands of masses came to Kabal Bazar in protest against the bomb blast which has killed eight person and returning of militants after a long time to Swat which has demolished hopes for sustainable peace obtained after great sacrifices of both armed forces and civilian, on Friday.
Large number of civil society members along with leaders and activists of various political parties gathered at Kabal Chowk after Friday prayers. Protestors carried white flags and placards with the slogan “We want peace in Swat”.
Addressing the agitators, Khurshid Kakaji of Pakhtunkhwa MAP, Rahmat Ali Khan of ANP, Mufti Abdul Rahim of JUI, Sardar Yusufzai of Kabul Bar, Usman Ghani of Muslim League-N and other speakers raised questions about the silence of the provincial government.
The protestors demanded effective measures to be taken and made it clear that if the government fails, then the people of Swat will be forced to stage dharna for an indefinite period. They said that even in this modern era, the people of Swat are coming out on the streets and demanding peace from the state.
The speakers said that they will not tolerate any kind of unrest in Swat and government negligence will not be tolerated in this regard. They demanded that peace is our right and the responsibility of the state and in this regard, the state should take immediate practical steps to establish lasting peace.
