Three-day book fair kicks off at AUP

PESHAWAR: The three-day 9th annual book fair, organized by the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), University Campus, has kicked off here at the University of Agriculture, Peshawar (AUP). As many as fifty national as well as international book stalls have been set up at the university’s library lawn which were offering books on fifty percent discount rate.  

The book stalls showcased a wide variety of books on the topics, including literature, linguistics, management sciences, engineering, information technology, international relations, mass communication, Islamic studies, history, economics, corporate social responsibility, Pak-China relations and translation and interpretation.

Vice-Chancellor (VC) AUP Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht formally inaugurated the first day of the book fair by cutting the lace. He was accompanied by IJT’s Campus Nazim Awal Sher Khan, Shafiq Khan, Mian Fawad and others.

VC AUP Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht, on the occasion, visited various book stalls and interacted with the students. 

Speaking on the occasion, VC AUP Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht felicitated the organization on holding successful book fair and said that such positive activities would motivate students to move forward. He said that education is the only solution of all the looming crisis of the country. He urged the youth to give most of their time to the books so that their weakened bond with the books could become stronger.

Addressing the students, IJT’s Nazim Awal Sher Khan said only those societies progress who endear education and books. He said that IJT has continued its revolutionary journey by promoting culture of education and research.

Later, Awal Sher Khan and Shafiq Khan presented books to Prof. Dr. Jehan Bakht.     

The book fair would continue till November 14.
