Three of five abducted polio workers released in Mohmand Agency

GHALLANAI: The abducted polio workers were released on late Saturday night in Mohmand Agency.

According to details, three of five polio workers, who were abducted from Musakhel in Mohmand Agency, were released and two other members of polio workers were killed in the attack.

Political administration told media persons that unidentified gunmen opened fire on the polio workers in a result two were killed and abducted the other three polio workers in the attack.

Security forces started search and strike operation in the area after the attack and recovered three of five workers but whereabouts of two others including driver and other polio worker is still unknown.

Earlier on Saturday, two polio workers were killed and three others were abducted by unidentified attackers in Safi tehsil of Mohmand Agency.

According to officials, the six-member polio team came under heavy firing when they were administering polio drops to children in the area.

The incident came to the knowledge of local authorities after two workers of the team escaped from the attack and reached Ghalani, the headquarters of Mohmand Agency.
