Four killed, several injured in Quetta’s Serena Hotel blast

QUETTA: At least four people were killed while several others were injured on Wednesday in a blast in the parking of a four-star hotel in Quetta.

According to reports, the blast occurred in the parking area of Serena Hotel. Several vehicles parked in the area were damaged due to the intensity of the blast while the windows of near buildings also shattered due to the blast.

Security forces reached the place and cordoned off the area while rescue teams are busy transferring the injured to the hospital. The nature of the blast is yet to be ascertained.

While talking to local news channel, Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said anti-state elements were trying to destroy the peace of the country and resolved that all the terrorists would met their end.

Interior minister said police officials were also among the injured and he was in contact with the provincial government and has directed to provide the best medical facilities to all the injured persons.

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry said that condemned the blast and said that the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs is in close touch with the Balochistan government and a preliminary investigation related to the blast is underway.

Soon after the blast, #Quetta becomes the top trend on Twitter with people posting videos of the sad incident with many claiming the blast occurred inside the hotel and the death toll may rise.
