Torkham border resumes export and import transportation

F.P. Report

LANDI KOTAL: After being suspended for eleven days, Torkham border has resumed export and import transportation here on Tuesday.

It is worth mentioning here that on 12 January, 2024, the Pak officials had restricted drivers into Pakistan without proper visa and passport.

Due to heavy rush of the vehicles at both sides of the crossing, the traffic movement was snail-paced, drivers said.

On request of Afghan officials, the Pak government relaxed the visa policy and permitted entry of Pakistan bound drivers as per old procedure,an official said.

According to a custom official at the border, the government asked the drivers to get a visa and renew their passport before 31 March, 2024.

The transport and business communities expressed their satisfaction over the reopening of the border and urged the two neighbouring countries to formulate pro-transport and pro-trade policies so as to enhance bilateral trade between them.
