Tourism police being raised to provide security

GILGIT: Inspector General Police Gilgit Baltistan, Sanullah Abbasi here Monday said that Giligit Balitistan was highly peaceful and beautiful region where tourism police was being raised to provide foolproof security to foreign and domestic tourists. Talking to media persons after visiting tourists’ police centre at zeropoint Chalas, the IGP said raising of tourists police was aimed at to provide complete information to tourists about all kinds of famous places of tourism besides security.

With cooperation of Federal and Provincial Governments, he said foolproof security would be provided to foreign and domestic tourists in this scenic province with lush green valleys and snow covered peaks of tallest mountains offer enormous opportunities for naturalists, adventurists and mountaineers. “We expect that a record number of tourists will visit GB in this summer season,” he said, adding every possible help and security would be provided to them.

As for as residential problems are concerned, the IGP said that people of GB are very hospitable and will provide accommodation to tourists by reserving few rooms of their houses if necessary. “I invite foreign tourists to come here and explore natural scenic beauty of GB,” the IGP said, adding Diamir can become Switzerland of Asia if tourism was promoted here on scientific lines. “Diamir is a gateway of GB and solid steps are being taken to give an easy excess to tourists to explore hidden beauty of Darpul Tangeer area,’ he said.

“GB is a peaceful area and its economy can be strengthened by promoting tourism here,’ the IGP said, adding tourism force is being raised to address problems of tourists at their doorsteps. A large number of tourists are expected to visit GB after establishment of tourism force that would be deployed at all tourists’ destinations and entry points at Diamir. Earlier, the IGP inaugurated SP Office Diamir and distributed commendation certificates among police jawans upon their best performance.
