Tourists throng snow-covered Laram Top

TIMERGARA: Despite heavy rain in parts of Lower Dir and snowfall on hill tops tourists along with their families thronged the scenic snow-covered Laram Top in Adenzai to enjoy the current spell of snowfall in the valley. Tourists from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, majority of them children and youth were seen on the top enjoying snowfall and natural beauty of the area here the other day. Most of the tourists walked on foot for about three kilometres to reach the Top as the road leading to the 8500 feet high tourists’ destination remained closed due to heavy snowfall.

“I came from Batkhela and wanted to reach the top to enjoy the snow covered area but I left my car some 3 kilometres below,” Umar Zahidtold this scribe near the hill top. He said he had come along with family to enjoy the snow covered mountain. The Laram Top is situated at an altitude of 8,500 feet in Adenzai tehsil of Lower Dir, is 185 kilometre from Peshawar and about 25 kilometres from Chakdara town to North West. The top is famous for its coolness and lush greenery even in mid of the summer.

One Saqibur Rehman from Peshawar said he along with his friends fully enjoyed the snowfall. He said that it was easy to reach the Laram Top as compared to snow-covered spots in Swat. He also praised locals for their hospitality and nice behaviour. Local tourists from Dir Lower, Bajaur, Malakand Agency, Mardan and Barikot Swat enjoyed the snowfall.

“We feel safe and we are quite easy here,” said a physiotherapist Navidullah while talking to this reporter. He said that he had brought his friends and relatives in two vehicles from Timergara to enjoy the hard chilly weather and snowfall. The administration dispatched heavy machinery to Shahi Bin-Shahi in Samar Bagh to keep open the road leading to the scenic spots bordering Afghanistan.

Anwarud Din, a resident of Kambat Samar Bagh said that a large number of people both from Dir and outside districts were visiting Shahi and Bin-Shahi to enjoy snowfall. He said that bulldozers were busy in clearing the road of snow at these spots.
