Traders discuss issues with Abdullah

KABUL: The Afghan traders importing petroleum from Turkmenistan conveyed their problems to Chief Executive Officer Dr Abdullah Abdullah at his office.

The traders informed Dr Abdullah about the low standard of petroleum imported from Turkmenistan. They told Dr Abdullah that they had not been allowed to send the commodity back to Turkmenistan.

As per an agreement between Afghanistan and Turkmenistan, Afghan traders have purchased 70,000 tons of petroleum from Turkmenistan. Of the total amount, 300 tons of petroleum has reached to Kabul. However, the commodity is of low quality.

The traders said they had been facing the issue since the last one and half months. They said they had not been allowed to utilize or resume the sale of petroleum.

They also shared other issues with the chief executive officer regarding chambers of commerce, norm and standard and industrial problems. The chief executive officer directed the petroleum department and foreign and finance ministries to write a letter for the return of the petroleum to Turkmenistan.

He directed the concerned authorities to address the issues of private sector in time.
