PESHAWAR: Traders of Gantha Ghar area demanded to speed up the renovation work on historical sites in Gor Gathri as the slow work progress was badly affecting their business.
Provincial government has started Heritage Trail Project in Gor Gathri to renovate the historical sites.
The traders of the area complained that work progress is very slow and because of it the traders were unable to run the business.
Muhammad Nawaz, a shopkeeper told The Frontier Post that government had informed the traders that the work would be completed within four months and the government had paid Rs40,000 to each trader but unfortunately the required work could not be complete within given time.
Nawaz added that he is paying Rs 25000 per month rent of his shop and government paid us Rs 40000 for four months.
Another shopkeeper Muhammad Afzal claimed that the business activities had been badly affected due to the ongoing renovation work. He demanded the authorities concerned to speed up the work.
Meanwhile, Shuja -ul- Mulk, president of the area traders claimed that besides the slow pace of work sub-standard material was being used in the project
Talking to The Frontier Post, Director Archeology Department Samad Khan said that 412 total shops came under the project out of which 360 owners received payments while the remaining have problems in their names and ID cards numbers and they will be paid after the correction of the documents. He said that the renovation of the sewerage and drinking water pipelines also caused the delay in completion of the project.
Mr. Samad denied that the sub-standard material was used in the project and said anyone could check the material if they have any doubt.
