Traffic accident injures six in Bamyan province

BAMYAN (Khaama Press): At least six people sustained injuries in a traffic accident that took place on the Kabul-Bamyan highway, provincial officials in central Bamyan province said.
The press and public relations department of Bamyan police confirmed on Tuesday to Khaama Press that the incident took place at 10:00 am in the Fatemisti village near the provincial capital of Bamyan.
The officials added that injured people were transferred by traffic personnel to Bamyan provincial hospital for treatment.
The incident took place as two Toyota Corolla vehicles collided in on the Bamyan highway, according to Taliban officials.
Previously, traffic officials reported to media that during Eid days, more than 100 road accidents took place throughout the country, claiming the lives of 66 people and injuring at least 132 others.
In similar road accidents in different parts of the country, many people including women and children have lost their lives, according to official reports.
In a separate traffic accident in the Yawan district of the northeastern Badakhshan province yesterday, three people including a woman and a child sustained injuries.
Experts link the increasing number of road accidents in Afghanistan to careless driving, poorly maintained vehicles, unpaved and cracked roads as well as failing to abide by the traffic rules.
