Training workshop on documentary production held

TIMERGARA: The Department of Journalism and Mass communication, University of Malakand (UoM) on Wednesday organized a daylong intensive training workshop on ‘Documentary Production’ in collaboration with the ministry of information and broadcasting at its main campus Chakdara. The ministry’s, digital campaign manager Akmal Khan was guest speaker of the event.

The main objective of the workshop was to consolidate and empower the students as how to make documentary in limited available resources. Students of journalism department and faculty members showed interest in the workshop and termed fruitful. The Students were sensitized that smart phones were the means through which they could accomplish the uphill task. The students actively participated and hailed the activity for their practical exposure.

The Department in-charge Jan Muhammad pledged that he was committed to pursue practical training in future to equip students with innovative ideas and practical exposure. He acknowledged the Vice Chancellor cooperation due to which this event was made a success. He acclaimed the students who exhibit their talents by asking relevant questions and active participation. Mr Jan Muhammad asked the students to utilize modern technology for information sharing and getting updated knowledge regarding the fastest communication. He said the department of journalism would arrange more such events to benefit students.

Also in the day the directorate of students’ society, UoM arranged a separate function for its disable male and female students at the convocation hall with vice chancellor Prof Dr Gul Zaman in the chair. Speaking on the occasion Dr Gul Zaman, Saeed Khan of the proctorial board, Dr Fazal Subhan, Dr Ayaz Khan and others said that persons with disabilities needed extra concentration of society and institutions for enabling them useful citizen. They said that taking care of PWDs was people moral, religious and humanitarian responsibility. The vice chancellor said that a total of 900 students had been enrolled in 24 faculties of the varsity this year. He said the varsity would exempt tuition fee of all disable students.
