JAMRUD: Local women blocked the Pak-Afghan in protest against the prolonged power off here in front of grid, Tedi Bazaar, Jamrud, district Khyber on Thursday.
The locals and police official said that scores of women along with their children from surrounding villages led by councilor Wagma Afridi appeared on the highway, put stones on it and initiated sit-in on the road to suspend it for all kinds of traffic.
Speaking on the occasion Wagma Afridi said that excessive power off had disturbed their routine activities while the concerned officials turned blinds eyes towards their miseries that was injustice to them.
She maintained that unavailability of power supply had made their lives miserable and were facing domestic difficulties besides their children had got ill due to cold weather.
Due to lack of the facility in the new settlement (Naee Abadi) so far three children had passed away from Pneumonia in the last ten days, she added.
She threatened that until resolving their problem they would not give up their agitation.
