Tribesmen ask IGP for action against Akbarpura SHO

F.P Report

PESHAWAR: Tribesmen of Khyber Agency have alleged police officer of Akbarpura Police Station Nowshera district of abducting Abdullah Afridi and Khadi Khan Afirdi from a Hujra and implicated them in fake case of having six kg hashish.

They asked Inspector General of Police (IGP) to initiate an inquiry into the matter. The accusations against Station House Officer (SHO) of Akbarpura police station in Nowshera district were leveled during a news conference held on Wednesday at Peshawar press club.

Speaking on the occasion, Hazrat Wali Afridi, a brother of Abdullah Wakil and Said Arif Afridi, son Khadi Khan, a retired Sobedar, accused that alleged SHO had abducted their family members from Muhammad Arshad’s Hujra in the area on Jan 22, 2018. About the SHO Muhammad Nawaz, they said he  on the next day (23rd Jan 2018) showed them as smugglers carrying 6kg hashish and arrested on motorway, which they added was totally baseless and unjustified stance.

They said that Khadi Khan had sold his motorcar to someone and went there to receive the payment from the person and they decided to meet each other at Arshad’s Hujra. When they reached meanwhile, the concerned SHO raided the Hujra, detaining and took them to the police station.

They maintained the policemen had also taken away cellular phones and another motor, in which, they reached to Akbarpura. However, they said, after the cruelty and injustice of police with the tribal men, they approached provincial police chief through an application with hope, the application would be considered, was forwarded to District Police Officer (DPO) Nowshera.

The DPO, they claimed, had got them out of his office when they approached him to consider the matter, “The DPO made bad treatment with us being considered us as tribal people”, they alleged. They, demanded of the IGP to personally order an inquiry into the matter in order to give them justice by giving exemplary punishment to the concerned SHO and DPO as well for ill-treatment with them.

Aggrieved tribesmen warned the youth from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) would be compelled to stage protest demonstrations in front of Governor House and IGP and all the responsibilities would rest with the provincial government if action was not taken on the matter.
