Tribesmen hold protest against stuck Pakistan passengers across the border

F.P. Report

LANDI KOTAL: A protest demonstration against Pakistani passengers, trapped across the border for the last three days, was held in front immigration center at Torkham border on Friday.

It is to be mentioned here that two days back, the Afghan custom Commissioner at Torkham border, Ismatullah Yaqoob had snatched passports from more than two hundred Pakistani citizens and had left them helplessly under an open sky.

Led by Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid, head of Sayasi Ittehad, Khyber Murad Hussain Afridi, scores of political and social workers, traders, daily wagers and relatives of stuck people.

While carrying black flags, the protestors took out a rally from Bacha Khan Square, Landi Kotal to Torkham border where they initiated sit-in front of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) checkpoint.

Addressing to the angry mob Haji Shah Khalid, Murad Hussain Afridi, Ilyas Shinwari, Kaleemullah and others condemned the Afghan Commissioner for snatching passports from the Pakistani passengers for unknown reasons and blocked their entry for the last three days.

Some elements on both sides of the border were active enough to sabotage friendly ties of the two Muslims and neighboring countries that need to be foiled, they opined.

They also criticized the Pakistani officials for turning blind eyes towards the sensitive matter and urged the Afghan government to take notice of the unlawful act of the official and post efficient and responsible officer as custom Commissioner.

The protestors also forcibly stopped the Afghan citizens exit process at immigration point, Torkham including repatriation of illegal Afghan families.

They warned that until the return of the stranded Pakistani with their proper travelling documents, they would not give up their protest sit-in.
