LANDI KOTAL: On approaching of Eid-ul-Fitr, the tribesmen are busy to meet their needs relating to Eid celebration from dawn to dust while priority is given to buy dry fruits as per their financial power.

On this special occasion the tribal of Landi Kotal use to buy dry fruits for their families and guests visiting them on the Eid day.

Dozens of dry fruits sellers have established their temporary set ups in all main streets of Landi Kotal Bazaar and have arranged their products to attract customers .

One of a stall holder of the fruit Awais Khan, an Afghan national, selling the commodities for the last four years in the bazaar said that as compare to last year Rs.50 per kilo prices of Almond, Pistachio and other dozen of dry fruits had increased.

Due to poor economic condition selling of the commodity decreased although the buyers   of the commodities were increasing in the area from one year to another, he

observed. Dry fruits Afghanistan, Iran, China etc.were available in the market,he added and saying in last week of Ramadan, locals thronged to the markets to but dry fruits.

Aman Ali, a local youth said, “it is a rite and since long a trend has been set in the area to serve the visiting guests with dry fruits on the Eid day.” He rejected the opinion

of critics of spending lavishly on the unnecessary luxury and said that being Muslim and Pakhtuns we have to entertain our guest in best way on the special day of Eid.

Another tribal,Wali Muhammad, resident of Sultan Khel said that it was healthy food and we consumed it it along with his family and also  presented it to guests to recover the deficiency that we had lost in observing  the fasting for  whole month of Ramadam in addition of giving it as gift to relatives.

Local youths were on the view that it was the lonely occasion in a year that we had an opportunity to eat dry fruit, therefore serving dry fruits on the Eid day, a good tradition that should be continued.
