Washington, February 14, 2025 – U.S. President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi agreed to trade talks during their White House meeting, discussing reductions in Indian tariffs on U.S. exports and strengthening cooperation in defense and energy sectors.
Trump criticized India’s tariffs as “unfair” and announced a reciprocal tariff strategy, stating that the U.S. would match any duties imposed by India. Modi, in response, offered to increase purchases of U.S. oil, gas, and fighter jets, though no immediate agreement was reached.
According to India’s Foreign Secretary, a deal could be finalized within seven months, while U.S. officials anticipate progress within this year.
