Terrorists’ attacks in the restive Baluchistan province are again on the rise. A group of militants opened fire on a police check post in Turbat on Thursday, martyring five personnel and injuring three others. In the exchange of fire, three militants were also killed. In a less than one week this is the second incident of terrorism in the province. Two days ago on Tuesday, a suicide bomber blew himself up near the rally of Ulema Council Baluchistan near Press Club in Quetta, martyring 8 people, including three security personnel, and injured 19 others. On the same day a police mobile was targeted with IED in Kulachi area of D.I. Khan District of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa, adjacent to Baluchistan. In that incident one police official was martyred and two were wounded.
Although the soil of Pakistan has been cleared from terrorist outfits, yet the militants’ attacks in the frontline provinces of Baluchistan and Khyber Pukhtunkhwa give grim reminder about the possibility of existence of sleeper cells in the country. There is dire need of targeted action against these cells and proper monitoring of Pak-Afghan Border in Baluchistan.
