Turgundi-Herat, Andkhoi-Mazar railway projects to complete soon

KABUL (BNA): The Economic Commission of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan has resolved to finalize the railway projects from Torgundi to Herat and from Andkhoi to Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital city of Balkh province.
As per the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, the commission, under the leadership of Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhand, instructed the Afghan Railway Authority to expedite the completion of these railway networks.
In addition, the authority has been tasked with devising a comprehensive plan, inclusive of proposals, for the construction of a railway line from Herat to Spin Boldak in Kandahar province.
The successful completion of these networks is anticipated to enhance trade and transit between Afghanistan and Central Asian countries, thereby providing significant facilitation.
The meeting also concluded with the decision to establish a secretariat for the TAP project under the Ministry of Water and Energy, which will supervise the technical and legal aspects of the project.
Moreover, the activities of the Ministry of Finance concerning the approval of guarantees, supplies, and outstanding claims for companies contracted during the pre-Islamic Emirate government era were ratified.
The Economic Commission also approved the guidelines for the humane slaughtering of chickens, as proposed by the Afghan Academy of Sciences.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Livestock has been mandated to enforce these guidelines diligently.
Furthermore, the contract for the installation of GPS devices in transit vehicles was granted to Afghan Post by the Economic Commission.
The company is expected to present its report on this matter within a month. As per the contract, Afghan Post will install a GPS device on each transit vehicle for a charge of $41.
